What will I make?
This course will cover the classic Trace, Curb, and Loop in Loop Chains.
What will happen during the workshop?
Throughout the three weeks mastering the art of making chains in copper here is what is covered:
- Week 1: Introduction to making links followed by making Trace and Curb Chains with different textures and finishes.
- Week 2: Discover the intricate Loop in Loop chain, exploring the different styles of chain that can be achieved by applying multiple layers and different thicknesses of wire
- Week 3: Personal Projects - Apply your newfound skills to create your unique chain designs to make your own bracelet.
At the end of 3 weeks you will have mastered the craft of chain making and leave with a collection of sample chains and a finished bracelet.
What skills do I need?
Difficulty Level: MEDIUM
Some prior jeweling experience is beneficial.
What should I bring?
We provide all the necessary materials and tools, including copper for your chain-making. Please bring:
- Reading glasses (if you need them!)
- Sketchbook
What should I wear?
Clothes: Casual and not too precious as they may get a bit dusty or damaged. Avoid long, loose fitting sleeves and anything that might catch or get caught whilst you are working.
Shoes: Casual flat shoes and no open toed sandals in case you drop a hammer or something hot on them!
Hair: Tie long hair back.
